UCSF is a National center for
Stem Cell research. Under the Federal Guidelines in
effect until 2008, there were only a few permissible
lines of stem cells for research that would be funded
federally. this led to a design of completely redundant
and duplicated equipment rooms, tissue culture rooms
and open laboratories for Federally funded and privately
funded research.
This renovation is a short term home of the Human Developmental
and Embryonic Stem Cell Research Center. The Governor
of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the laboratory
in December, 2008. the top photo is from the Governor's
website.
